Marlboro Jewish Center (MJC) is a large, Conservative synagogue in Monmouth County, NJ with a membership of approximately 615 households and an additional 100 Preschool families. Our Hebrew School is comprised of about 215 students from K-12th grade, 10-15 madrichim (teen assistants), and 15-20 staff members.
We are looking for an innovative, experienced, self-motivated, and computer savvy Director of Congregational Learning to develop and implement our congregational education plan, including serving as the Director of the Hebrew School, coordinating our adult education program, and managing the overall lifelong learning needs of the congregation. This position reports to the Executive Director, and to the Rabbi for matters of educational content/curriculum and ritual.

Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with the Rabbi and synagogue leadership to develop and implement a plan for Jewish learning that creates a meaningful Jewish experience for youth, families, and community members of all ages
● Create and execute all of the lifelong learning programming, connecting details of each program to the broader vision and strategy
● Serve as the Director of the Hebrew School:
⮚ Grow enrollment in the Hebrew School and participation in other educational programs
⮚ Develop, oversee, and implement the Hebrew School curriculum
⮚ Manage the Hebrew School support staff and faculty; observe, supervise and provide resources, training, and support for teachers; hire (and when necessary dismiss) teachers, specialists, and other educational staff
⮚ Supervise classroom management in coordination with teachers and students
⮚ Mobilize, supervise, and evaluate the teen madrchim program
⮚ Effectively communicate with Hebrew School families: Receiving parent feedback and grievances, problem-solving regarding individual concerns, sending out regular school eblast updates, communications regarding upcoming programs via community-wide blasts and the MJC weekly emails, maintaining a strong social media presence for the school
⮚ Revitalize the Hebrew High School program and establish vibrant post-B'nai Mitzvah educational and engagement opportunities
⮚ Manage the educational and Hebrew school budget for the congregation; create the calendar for the Hebrew School and other educational programs; manage Hebrew School records
⮚ Enhance the education program with Hebrew School trips and special projects
⮚ Formulate process for student review and reporting on progress
⮚ Renew and lead a Board of Education committee with Hebrew School parents; run monthly meetings
⮚ Oversee security procedures during Hebrew School, execute safety and security drills and ensure the school is in compliance with best practices for security
● Coordinate, facilitate, and lead adult education programs
● Support Israel education for the community
● Create and implement community-wide Shabbat and holiday programming and learning; mobilize other learning activities, including Tot Shabbat and Junior Congregation
● Coordinate monthly Hebrew School led services with congregation wide Shabbat dinners; integrate school programs into the larger synagogue community
● Organize educational youth programming for the High Holidays
● Coordinate with the Preschool leadership team to encourage and inspire families with young children to continue their Jewish education in our school program and to join the congregation
● Work on Jewish educational/program grants and identify new opportunities for funding
The ideal candidate will have:
● A Master’s degree in Jewish Education or a related field, or a Bachelor's degree with at least 3 years in Jewish educational programing leadership
● At least 3 years of managerial or supervisory experience, including managing people, projects and budget
● Experience in creating, delivering and overseeing engaging and meaningful Judaic curricula
● Excellent skills in leadership, communication and management of people/teams
● Familiarity with both in person and virtual teaching; familiarity with implementing technology in learning and adapting learning for virtual settings
● Strong computer skills required

This is a full-time position and requires some evenings, weekends and holidays.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000
